Longmont Homeschool 101 Classes.

November 30th, 2007

Are you considering homeschooling? Or have you been homeschooling, but still feel a bit lost or unsure?  Attend one of Niche’s Longmont Homeschool 101 Classes.

Homeschooling is quickly becoming a common educational choice.  If you have a child who is struggling, bored, unmotivated or just doesn’t fit in, then homeschooling might be a great choice for your family.  Perhaps you’d just like your family to be more bonded and less hurried.  Or maybe you feel that your child deserves an individualized education.

Come join the growing number of families who are finding out that homeschooling can provide a quality, individualized education, more content family time and less stress.  This class will provide information about homeschool law, curriculum choices, philosophies and socialization.

Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month, every month in Longmont.  Classes are free but a small materials fee will apply.

To register, or get further information, send an email to cohsmama at yahoo dot com

Longmont Homeschool Park Day - The Winter Version

November 10th, 2007

As the weather turns, homeschoolers everywhere look for a new park day plan.  In Longmont, our winter park days options are varied. First, often Colorado winters allow for Longmont homeschool park days to continue until late in December and then resume quickly in March.  In fact, we’ve spent many a happy park day in Longmont on one of Colorado’s common 70 degree January days.

When the weather really commits to driving us inside, we often move our Longmont homeschool park days to Airborne Gymnastics for their Homeschool Open Gym.  This is a perfect chance for all the little stir crazy homeschool kids to get their ya-ya’s out.

Families will also take this time of year as an opportunity to deepen their connection with other homeschool families by having private playdates.  Winter is a nice time of year to hunker down and enjoy new friends.

Trips to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science are always good to fill a winter afternoon.  Of course, Colorado Homeschoolers love spending entire days at this lovely homeschool resource.

Good luck to our friends

Upcoming events in Longmont

October 15th, 2007

Check out this Longmont Mom’s website. She’s built it around all of the activities offered here in Lil’ Old Longmont.  WOW! I have always appreciated what a great community this is; so based in family and wholesome free/inexpensive activities.  But to see it all written out in one place is almost overwhelming.  Look at the Christmas stuff. 5 wonderfilled activities ready to be enjoyed. I’m exhausted already. Hold on tight, Kids! Longmont’s holiday season is getting ready to kick off with our favorite event Day of the Dead… and we’ll be hoppin’ until January’s welcome calm.

Boxes and Boys and masking tape…oh my.

September 17th, 2007

My little Hero and I will be hosting a box building party on Thursday.  We’ve invited all the little boys we know (and some we don’t) to come turn our back yard into a wonderland.  We have tons of boxes, loads of tape and lots of scissors. It should be fun. The guest list looks delightful.

The Longmont Homeschool Group is just gearing up for a great fall filled with homeschool activities, classes and co-ops.  Come join the fun.
